Parties, garage, and decorating

The holiday party season started last night. We attended our first holiday party with the Economics Club (Bud is a member not me) at the Country Club. It was a nice evening with a great dinner and some nice music. When I was in Grand Rapids last weekend Eva helped me pick out this new jacket. I needed something new for the holiday season. This was one of the first things I bought. I think it turned out to be a good purchase. I am wearing my gray pearls David brought back from China.
I have had a few requests for garage updates. Well, this week we did get some new doors. They look terrific. The windows will fit into the lines of the house and the wood matches the wood on the overhangs of the eves. It is beginning to be pulled together. Last night we talked to one of our neighbors and they thought it is all coming together very nicely too. It is good to have the approval of the neighbors.
You may notice in the background that we also got a new door for the old little garage (soon to be known as Della's garage). This is another attempt to make it look like it all goes together. The peak of the house lines up with the peak of the garage and is almost the same pitch so it does look great. We are waiting for siding. It has been a challenge to find siding which is 'tongue and groove' that matches the house siding. We are such a small job that getting this siding in this time of the year is presenting a problem for our builder. However, Bud continues to work on the wiring of the garage and has been able to park his car in the garage this past week. Good work takes time and patients and we are very happy with the way it looks so far.

Sara mentioned that she waits until December 1st to decorate for the holidays. Well, I guess that I waited too but just out of laziness. This morning I collect all my fall decorations and put them on the dining room table. Two things have been keeping me from decorating. First of all I will have to clean the house before I put out the new decorations. That is always my least favorite chore. Second, I have been very busy in my sewing room. I have decided to break my rule about charging for my hobbies. I am making bowls to put into a craft fair at a friend's booth. So far I have about 10 bowls of various sizes. I do love making the bowls and so I decided I would try to make a little money for the holidays. I will post a picture of all the bowls when I get done.
Well, that is my assorted ramblings for this Friday. I will do anything to put off cleaning the house but should get to it soon.
